An unexpected intrusion
Love, music, art
so many similarities between the three
capturing our minds
invading them with symbols and gestures and tones
underlying denotations of feast or famine
Persuasive in their wishes to move us, change us
making our eyes look closer
our ears feel larger
our heart beat faster
Our perceptions of love are ever so different
at once protective, it can destroy
at length, it can invite
up close, it can deceive
A simple gesture of crossing a street
a magnetism that leads us to want more
but of what?
more sound? more color? more pain?
Take a photograph if you will
in a museum on the wall
what does it want to say
and what do we really see
a cheap knockoff of someone's mind garnering thousands in cash
or an immediate sense of beauty
that leads to think in unthinkable ways
And then there is music
unrelenting in its mission to invade our soul
we hum its tunes
we rejoice in its power over us
we try to decipher its messages
limitless in its expansive depth of melody
Maybe some of you will read this and relate
I don't even know who reads my blog
it's here and out there
and I guess it's just like art, music and love
out there to be seen and heard and felt
I celebrate champions of curiosity
who among us is not delving into the dark corners of life?
using certain platforms of self expression to allude others into our thoughts
So here's to love and music and art
unexpected intruders of our naked space
marked by time, by battle wounds and empty wallets
celebrated with cakes and laughter and an occasional grace
What would the world be without these spheres
playing fabulously in our coveted lives?
I don't really want to know
they are the center of everything wonderful
and at once cold
